Through a fortuitous turn of social media events, we are proud to announce that the SLC chapter of the AIGA and StruckAxiom are hosting the Utah premiere of BÖIKZMÖIND: a beautifully shot documentary film about fixed gear bikes in Bristol, England. The film's director, Gavin Strange, will also be in the house for a discussion on design and a Q&A after the film.
Join us at 7:00 PM at the Salt Lake Art Center auditorium on Thursday, October 27th.
7:00 PM - A Conversation on Design with Designer/Director Gavin Strange
8:00 PM - Screening of BÖIKZMÖIND
All attendees will walk (or pedal) away from the event with a limited-edition letterpress poster designed by the StruckAxiom team and smashed by our friends at The Mandate Press.
Here's a bit about the director:
Gavin Strange is a Senior Interactive Designer for the digital department of illustrious Aardman Animations in Bristol, England by day. By night, this young, ambitious designer goes under the alias of JamFactory, where he's already launched he's own line of vinyl toys called Droplets and has just finished directing his first documentary film on fixed gear cyclists in Bristol called BÖIKZMÖIND. Gavin is a regular on the speaking circuit. He speaks on the topic of design and entrepreneurship at conferences, universities, and is often the featured speaker at London's flagship Apple Store.
So whether you live life by the death before derailleur mantra or you actually aim for Jimmy John's delivery guys on your way home, come enjoy an evening about design, creative and of course… boiks.
